Guide for family members

Someone in your family wants to create a blood-related Medical Directive. Here's how you can help — and what you should know.

How you can help

Learn together. Read the Blood Choices Guide alongside them. Understanding what each product and procedure is makes the conversation easier.
Sit with them during creation. The creation process takes about 10 minutes. Having someone to talk through decisions with helps.
Be their Healthcare Agent. If they ask you to be their designated agent, take it seriously. Read the Healthcare Agent guide.
Help with logistics. Printing the Directive, setting up their phone, making sure their doctor has a copy.

If you disagree with their choices

You may not agree with every choice they make — and that's okay. This is their legal right. Your role is to understand their decisions and support them, not to approve or override.

If you're their Healthcare Agent, discuss the "Personal Decision" items specifically. Know what they'd want you to do in each scenario, even if you'd choose differently for yourself.

Managing the whole household

If you're the one organizing care for your family, the Family plan gives every member their own Directive — managed from one place, under one subscription. The Directive itself is always free; the Family plan adds the management and emergency layer:

Family dashboard. See everyone's Directive status at a glance — whose is complete, whose still needs attention.
Prepare a member's Directive. You can draft on behalf of a parent or family member. Preparing is help; deciding is not — they review every choice and sign it themselves.
Shared Emergency Card. One QR code shows a First Responder critical information for the entire household.
Wallet cards for every member. Print a card for each person in the plan, ready for wallets and glove compartments.

Creating your own
